Garner made her breakthrough with the action-thriller "Alias." Garner's debut lead role as a character was the highly acclaimed romance "13 going on thirty." She played a teenager who found herself locked in the body the 30-year-old. Garner picked Gary Winick for the role of director. Both actors continued working with each other on various projects when Winick's death in the year 2011. The year 2009 was the first time Garner became an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A.
