Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961 at Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti] Romania). She was first to achieve a perfect 10 on an Olympic occasion. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics trainer who later became her coach in later years, discovered her at age six. Comaneci participated for the first time in the national junior championships and finished 13th. Following that, she became champion. In her first international competition in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior competition for communist-bloc nations she took home three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she was all-around junior champion. The athlete won four golds and one silver in her first international competition for seniors that took place in 1975. It was the first time she had competed as an older senior. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman to perform the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven bars that are parallel. As a teenager, Carol Wayne began working in the entertainment industry performing as a figure skater. With her twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of a show that traveled called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol's first job was in entertainment as a teenager. She began her career with her joining Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling performance. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
