Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28, 1967. Her family is the fourth Roberts family that been a resident of Atlanta. It began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was an agriculturalist. Her father took keen interest from a young age in stage. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both in and outside of campus. After joining the airforce, in 1953 he appeared in an air force production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter was an undergraduate at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they were discharged from the air force and Walter started his education at Tulane University. Walter was recruited to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the television show Bum Bum His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which ran for about six years. Lelisa Billingsley who is also referred to as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
